SPORTS - Barcelona eyeing a shock move for Super Eagles striker Ighalo Odion

Barcelona are considering a shock move for Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo in the January transfer window.

The La Liga leaders have decided to sign a new striker this month to cover for the departures of Munir El Haddadi to Sevilla for €1mn and Denis Suarez linked with a loan move to Arsenal


According to Diario Sport, Barcelona are desperately in search of an inexpensive back-up to Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez and they consider Ighalo as a valid alternative with five to six other prolific forwards also on their wishlist.
The Catalan giant want a striker who they can bring on loan to Nou Camp for the rest of the season as the capture Columbia center-back Jeison Murillo and the 29-year-old Changchun Yatai forward is keen to return to European football since the relegation of his Chinese side.


Nigeria international racked 73 La Liga appearances for Granada in the early years of his career and his experience in the Spanish league is considered a big plus by the Blaugrana.
Ighalo scored 15 goals in 37 Premier League matches with Watford in 2015/16 and hit the net 36 times in 55 games during his time in China.
