EXCLUSIVE: Nia Franklin Has Being Crowned the New Miss America 2019

Nia Franklin was crowned the new Miss America on Sunday night in Atlantic City, NJ. She is the first Miss America to be chosen in the revamped, no-more-swimsuits era. In addition to her crown, the 25-year-old New Yorker earned a $50,000 scholarship.

She earned a master’s degree in music composition from the U. Of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2017.Ms. Franklin works to raise awareness of cancer research. She donated her own stem cells to her father, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It was an act of Love that saved her father’s life.
