I write with a lot of respect to inform Mr President of my decision to resign my appointment as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Your Excellency may wish to recall that I joined the APC in 2014 along with other members of the then new PDP, contested the 2015 governorship election as the flag bearer of the APC and to the Glory of God, you graciously nominated to be a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Your Excellency Mr President may wish to be reminded that I went through all the screening processes (security, medical and national assembly) as required by constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after which I was cleared and approved as fit and proper for appointment as minister.

Mr President, you therefore graciously appointed and swore me in as minister in November 2015.Mr President may also wish to recall that I wrote to notify you of my intention to again contest for governor of my state in forthcoming 2019 election under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and you again graciously blessed my intention and wished me well through a letter personally signed by Mr President which I appreciate and will forever cherish. Sir, I purchased the APC nomination forms and went for the party’s screening on Thursday, the 20th of September 2018 along with ten(10) other contestants for the governorship of my state, Taraba. I, with your permission, proceeded to Taraba on the 23rd of September 2018, to prepare for the presidential and governorship primaries then scheduled for the 25th and 29th of September 2018 respectively.

While preparing for the primaries in Jalingo, I received with the shock and dismay that I was disqualified and not cleared to contest for the 2019 governorship by the National Working Committee of the party (APC). No reason was given for my disqualification. Mr President may wish to be also informed that I had always been a very committed and loyal party member and was at no time queried or admonished for any wrongdoing or unconstitutional behaviour.

Up to the time of writing this letter,no reason is given by the party for my disqualification to contest election under the APC.It is for the above reasons sir, that I feel grave injustice was done to me by the party (APC), therefore my decision to leave the party and also resign my appointment as minister. If I am not qualified to contest election in the APC, I feel I am also not qualified to remain a minister in an APC government.

May I at this point thank, appreciate and express my profound gratitude to Mr President for the honour, rare privilege and lifetime opportunity you gave me to serve under your great and credible leadership. I learnt a lot (especially patience) under your leadership. Working with you in the last almost three years was great and has immensely improved my leadership quality, I will remain forever grateful for that, sir.

May I also use this opportunityto thank his Excellency, the Vice President, from whom I have also learnt a lot and my colleagues, other members of the Federal Executive Council, the SGF and cabinet office stafffor their fellowship and supportto me both as minister and personally. May God Almighty reward them all, Amen.

While wishing Mr President continued good health and thanking you again for the opportunity given to me, please accept sir, the assurances of my best wishes always and absolute loyalty to you as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Thank you Sir.

Jose Mourinho is gaining full support of his players especially the stars in the Manchester United team against his row with Paul Pogba.

One of Pogba greatest pals in the team Romelu Lukaku is also going cold on the French midfielder. There are concerns that Pogba's relationship with Mourinho might have a negative impact on the other players and the team especially the players that are close to Pogba in the team, according to Daily Mail.

Belgian forward Lukaku has distanced himself from the frosty relationship between Pogba and Mourinho despite playing a huge part in his move to Old Trafford from Everton last season.

Lukaku does not want to be seen to be backing Pogba against the Portuguese tactician. The two players remain on good terms but club insiders have noticed they are not as close as before.

Ashley Young, Nemanja Matic and Michael Carrick are not in contact with Pogba as it were before the rancour with Mourinho.

Manchester United has made a final decision on Paul Pogba future of whether Jose Mourinho remains at Old Trafford or not they will consider offers for his services for the World Cup winner.

The 25-year-old midfielder has publicly fallen out with Portuguese coach and France international was stripped of the vice-captaincy earlier this week before the pair clashed at Carrington training ground on Wednesday afternoon.

Manchester United hierarchy have thought that Pogba would remain with Premier League runner-up of the last term if Mourinho partway with the Red Devils.
However, the club management are now convinced he will push for a transfer to Barcelona with agent Mino Raiola is in constant contact with La Liga Champions officials ahead of January move.

According to the Independent claiming that Manchester United board members have accepted, that they will now listen to offers for the French midfielder with Raiola determined to push for a deal for his clients in winter transfer window.

Former Italy national team coach Marcello Lippi has given a verdict on Carlo Ancelotti and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Serie A clash on Saturday at Allianz Stadium.
Former Real Madrid and PSG boss have led last season runner-up to five wins and just one defeat this season so far while Bainconerri summer signing of Portugal international has fired Old
Ladys to the top of the summit in Serie A after six matches with 100 percent record.

Lippi, who coached both clubs, told Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of Saturday’s showdown. "Napoli are the same as last season, but with a new Coach who’s done a fantastic job so far,”
"Juve have only changed a bit, apart from CR7… Carlo did well to keep Sarri’s work intact, but he’s added experience, strong psychology and an ability to mix things up tactically without it affecting performances.

"Sarri didn’t rotate much because he was looking for a crazy level of chemistry on the field, but Carlo is different. He’ll get to the end of the season with a fresher squad and one who are all in sync because everyone will have played at the same level as the starters.
"There are those who claim Ronaldo has taken space away from Dybala, but it’s not true. Allegri’s also said it.
"Between the lines and in the final third is where Paulo plays best. Cristiano, on the other hand, just scores, and that can only help his teammates.

"He’s a champion whom Zidane managed to perfection, and Allegri must learn from that, but he’ll succeed and everyone will benefit from him. He can play anywhere and adapt to those around him.
"Allegri is good at constantly changing system: one minute he’ll play with two forwards, then three, then three defenders, then four. Therein lies Juventus’ strength, and Ancelotti is trying to do the same thing at Napoli.

"They’ll succeed under Ancelotti and results will also be seen in Europe, where the Azzurri still haven’t made it to the top.
"They need experience, and Carlo has it in abundance.”
However, the China boss was less vocal about who would win on Saturday. “Juventus haven’t surprised me, Napoli have a bit, but a prediction really is impossible for me to make,” he concluded.

PDP governorship candidate in the Osun state rerun election, Ademola Adeleke, has rejected the result announced by INEC early this morning in which the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, was declared winner of the rerun.

Speaking to newsmen after the results were announced by the electoral body, Adeleke said there was no election in Osun state. He vowed to challenge the results at the state tribunal and retrieve the mandate given to him by the people.

Speaking through his brother, Dele Adeleke,  Ademola said “It will be foolish to allow this 419 result to stand. The party will meet and I believe that the tribunal is the next step to take. Adeleke’s mandate can’t be stolen, it will be retrieved. The wish of the people will stand at the end.”

President Buhari has sent a congratulatory message to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Governor-elect of Osun State, Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, for winning the keenly contested governorship election.

The President extends warm felicitations to the state and national campaign teams that worked assiduously to guarantee the victory at the polls, while commending the outgoing Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for eight years of steadfastness and service to his people.

“Thank you Osun State for supporting our good governance agenda by re-electing the APC. I assure you that we will continue to work for the progress and prosperity of the state and the nation,” he said.

The President urges the Governor-elect to always remember that the electorate expects unreserved commitment to delivering results that directly impact their lives and families. President Buhari affirms that the successful election in the State further strengthens the democratic culture in the country, extolling INEC for, once again, making the country proud.

President Buhari commends the maturity, loyalty and courage of all contestants in putting in their best to be elected to serve the state, urging them to seek redress in court, where they disagree with the outcome.

The gubernatorial ambition of Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, might have been scuttled.

This became evident Thursday night after his name was dropped from the full list of aspirants cleared to contest in 26 states by the party.
Yekini Nabena, the party’s spokesman in a statement sent to DAILY POST, said Shittu was not cleared because he does not possess the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
The list has been endorsed by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Earlier in his reaction to the scandal, Oyo-born Shittu declared that his own issue was different from that of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, who resigned of her NYSC certificate scandal.
According to him, whereas that of Adeosun was the presentation of a fake exemption certificate, he never obtained any certificate.
He said: “I left (University) in 1978 and left law school in 1979 and the constitution says anyone who qualifies to contest an election or who has gone through an election and wins, he is obligated to move through the House of Assembly which I did for four years, so it is a form of higher service as far as I’m concerned, and even now, I am still in service.”

On whether he agrees that he has violated the provisions of the NYSC Act, the Minister said, “I don’t see… and I’m not worried. Do you see any worry on my face? I don’t think so, except someone has a superior argument and prove it.”
Stressing that his case was not like that of Adeosun, Shittu said: “There is a world of difference. Unfortunately, Kemi had a fake certificate, I didn’t present any. I didn’t have one, I simply followed the constitutional requirement that if you are qualified to contest an election, it is compulsory for you to serve the nation in the capacity that you won an election.”

Following the commencement of the indefinite strike action embarked on by the Organised labour, The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris has restated his commitment to pay salaries of all workers on the Federal Government payroll in spite of the on-going Labour strike.

Mr. Ahmed Idris gave this commitment today while speaking to Newsmen at the Treasury House in Abuja. “ We have a standing order from Mr. President to pay workers salaries from the 25th of every month, which we have striven hard to fulfill to Nigerian workers and this month will not be an exception” maintained the AGF.
He however said that the payment of salaries cannot be achieved in an atmosphere where the critical stakeholders are not allowed access to their offices. “I must explain that salary payment involves a number of processes that do not begin and end with the OAGF. There are other critical stakeholders like the Cash Management Department in Ministry of Finance and others who are supposed to do their beat before we can finalise”, Mr Idris said.

“On coming to the office this morning we met the gates of the office locked and wondered how we can keep this promise if we are being locked out of the office. After speaking with the local arm of the Labour in the office on the need to pay salaries, they conceded to allow me and some of my staff in but the Gates are still locked. I therefore appeal to labour to open our gates so that we can have unhindered access to meet their needs”.
The AGF further appealed to the National Leadership of Labour to reconsider their stand on the on-going strike saying that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari more than ever has demonstrated high commitment towards meeting the welfare of the Nigerian Workers.

He therefore enumerated some of the very salient actions the present Government has so far undertaken to improve the welfare of the workers to include:

I. The payment of over N50 billion for Promotion arrears from 2012 – 2016;
ii. the approval of another N60 Biilion for the payment of Salary Arrears with effect from 2011 -2016;
iii. the President’s recent approval of N22.68 Billion for the payment of pension Arrears to the retirees of the defunct Nigeria Airways workers which has been outstanding for over 14 years;
iv. the President’s approval of N20 billion to meet ASSU’s demand for infrastructure development in both Federal and State Universities;
v. the Federal Government policy of Non-retrenchment of workers ;
vi. Provision of jobs for the teaming Nigerian unemployed youths, especially: the recruitment of over 10,000 Policemen; recruitment by the Army, Navy and Air force; recruitment by the para-military such as the Fire Service, Immigration, Nigeria Prison Service , Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps;
vii. Appointment into Various Ministries, Departments and Agencies;
viii. the payment of salaries to Federal Government Workers as at when due, as well as promotion of workers as at when due.
Mr Idris therefore urged Labour to trust Mr. President and return to the path of discussion, and negotiation, as the President has demonstrated enough commitment by setting up the tripartite committee. The committee which is headed by Ms Amal Pepple is saddled with the responsibility of consulting widely with stakeholders with a view to coming up with a realistic and acceptable minimum wage.

He further cautioned that “ we are all working for the same system and we should do nothing that could threaten the economy and lead to the collapse of the same system”
It will be recalled that the AGF had at the end of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee meeting (FAAC), on Wednesday 26th September, promised that salaries of Federal Government Workers will be paid.

The Niger State Police Command has apprehended one Shuaibu Abdullahi, 22 , for allegedly kidnapping Bello Umar of Vunu Village in the Lavun Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect was trailed and arrested by the police detectives attached to Lemu Division on a tip - off.

It was learnt the suspect had sometime in August this year invaded the village in collaboration with three other members of his gang who are now at large and kidnapped Umar for ransom.
Northern City News gathered that the suspect alongside the three fleeing members of his gang , who were armed with weapons abducted their victim and took him into a nearby bush.

The suspect told our correspondent that luck ran out of his gang as the victim escaped from captivity .
“I never knew that my victim will escape otherwise we would have made our money but unfortunately I ended up in the police net .
“We slept off and our victim took advantage of that and ran away . He later reported the matter to the police who arrested us ,” he explained .

The Police Public Relations Officer , Muhammad Abubakar , stated that police have intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing gang members .

In their appraisal of the Osun State rerun governorship election , the missions of the United States , European Union and the United Kingdom, who were on the ground to monitor the exercise , said there were incidents of harassment and intimidation of voters .

Reading the missions ’ joint report, the US Consul General , Mr John F . Bray , said, “The missions of the United States , European Union and the United Kingdom observed voting at polling stations in Osun today (Thursday).

We witnessed what appeared to be incidents of interference and intimidation of voters and have reports of harassment of party monitors, journalists and domestic observers .

“ We are very concerned by these reports and we will be checking with stakeholders to determine the facts . We call on all stakeholders to remain calm. ”

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress , Gboyega Oyetola, as the Governor -elect of Osun State .

The rerun of the Osun State governorship election was held in seven polling units across four council areas on Thursday with the candidate of the All Progressives Congress , Gboyega Oyetola, beating the Peoples Democratic Party candidate , Ademola Adeleke .
The returning officer , Prof. Joseph Fuwape, declared that the APC candidate , Oyetola, won the governorship election by scoring a total number of 255 ,505 votes while Adeleke of the PDP polled 255 , 023 votes.

This was, however , met with protests by Adeleke, the PDP , and the Coalition of United Political Parties , among others.
Adeleke had won the main election on Saturday with 353 votes after polling 254 , 698 against Oyetola’s 254 ,345 . On Thursday , both candidates relied on 2 ,637 votes in the seven units where the Independent National Electoral Commission had declared rerun to win the final contest.

The rerun was held in one polling unit in Oyere in Ife - North , one polling unit in Olode in Ife - South, another polling unit in Osi , Ife - South, three polling units in Orolu , Kajola Local Government Area of the state and one polling unit in Osogbo .
In Oyere , APC had 126 votes while PDP had two votes. In Olode, APC scored 283 votes with the PDP scoring 15 votes . In Osi , APC had 172 votes while the PDP had 21 votes . In Ifon , Orolu , APC had 111 votes against PDP ’s three votes . In Gbogbo, Orolu, APC had 41 while PDP scored 64 votes . Also in Idiya , Orolu , the APC scored 128 votes against the PDP ’s 55 votes.

In Osogbo , the APC scored 299 votes while the PDP scored 165 votes . In all, APC scored 1 , 160 to beat the PDP which scored 325 in the rerun . When added to the result of the main election on Saturday , APC had a total of 255 , 505 votes against PDP ’s 255 ,023 .
In the run - up to the rerun of the election , the PDP alleged that INEC shortchanged its candidate in some of the council areas by announcing figures that were lower than what Adeleke actually scored .
It claimed that the actual margin of the win against Oyetola in the first election was 4 ,740 and not 353 . The party said that INEC added 2 , 000 votes to what the APC polled in Osogbo and 1 ,387 to what it scored in Olorunda . The party also alleged that 1 , 000 votes were deducted from what Adeleke scored in the Ayedaade council area .

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party , Iyiola Omisore , who came a distant third in the Saturday ’s election , however , became an important element in the Thursday’s rerun because some of the polling units fell under the area of his strength. He was visited by a high powered Federal Government delegation which included the APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole ; Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun ; his Oyo State counterpart, Abiola Ajimobi; Ekiti State Governor - elect , Kayode Fayemi; and Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed .
Although he also met some leaders of the PDP , which included the party’s presidential aspirants, Bukola Saraki, and Atiku Abubakar, Omisore caved in under the FG pressure as he announced that he would support the APC in the rerun.

In areas where the rerun was held in Ife - South and Ife - North , PDP supporters alleged that they were barred by thugs from reaching the polling units to cast their votes for Adeleke. They also alleged that police watched as they were beaten by the thugs , adding that the result of the election did not reflect the wish of the electorate.
In Olode, the PDP agent was absent at the polling unit. One of our correspondents who were at the polling unit witnessed the beating of two people who claimed that they had come to vote . Although there was a heavy presence of armed security men at the unit , the hoodlums acted without hurdle . It was also observed that voters were hugely induced to vote at the polling unit.
It was gathered that voters were registered by an agent at a mud house behind the polling area and given what was termed agreement fee before voting and another amount after showing evidence of voting. The evidence was usually the ink on the thumbnail. It was also observed that the majority of the people at the polling unit, except journalists, observers and security men, had a common symbol of identification.

The Director of Voter Education and Publicity , INEC , Akin Ojewande , who was at the unit, said the election process was peaceful . He said that it was the choice of the PDP not to be represented at the unit .
He said, “The election is peaceful according to plan. Everybody has the right to be here or not , How would I know (why the PDP agent is not here). A party is allowed to have an agent at each polling unit. Nobody was sent away from coming here . People have been following the rule . I don’ t know of other polling units . ”
In Osogbo , gunshots fired by unknown people caused a commotion as the voting process was disrupted . Two persons were arrested by the police for attempting to buy votes from the electorate in the queue . A man who was alleged to be in possession of cloned Permanent Voter Cards was also whisked away by security men. An undisclosed amount of money was also found on him .

PDP rejects results , says it ’ s black day for Nigeria

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party met in Abuja on Thursday over the conduct of the rerun governorship election in Osun State .
While rejecting it, the party also said that the Thursday election was one of the worst days in the history of Nigeria .
It described the election as a black day for the nation .
The National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus , spoke at an emergency meeting after the meeting of members of the PDP National Working Committee .
He lamented that Osun State was put under siege and the citizens ’ right trampled upon by security agents , whom he said were backed by both the All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission officials .

He expressed concern that if what took place in Osun State was what would take place in 2019 , then the future of Nigeria ’s democracy “is bleak and the nation sliding into crisis . ”
He said, “What we have witnessed in Osun shows clearly that the All Progressives Congress is not ready for an election and we are afraid that President Muhammadu Buhari will not hand over if he loses the election next year .
“Today, we are all aware of the rerun election in Osun State as we address the press conference . We, the members of the National Working Committee , have reviewed what has happened from the distribution of materials to the actual voting in some of the units and wards.
“We found that Osun is under siege . Therefore , today is a black day for Nigeria .
“We would think that it is a state or some units, but if you look at what has transpired so far from Ekiti to Osun State , Nigerians are groaning in pains especially the Osun people .
“The right of the citizens to be able to come out and vote had been trampled upon and the entire state and the wards and units have been seized by the security agencies who were acting on behalf of the APC to make sure the election is rigged by all means .
“We are sad that if this is what is going to take place in 2019 , then the future of Nigeria ’s democracy is bleak and we are sliding into crisis . ”
Secondus challenged INEC to rise above what happened in Osun and declare the PDP candidate as the winner of the election .
He also called on the commission to immediately cancel the elections in all the units where security agencies seized the Permanent Voter Cards of PDP members and also where their members were prevented from voting.

In his reaction , the Deputy National Chairman (South- West ), Dr Eddy Olafeso, noted that security agents colluded with the APC people by allowing those wearing uniform bearing the APC governorship name to vote . He alleged that in Orolu and Garage Olode and some of the units, the PVCs of PDP members were seized and INEC members of staff were induced with cash , which he said they could not refuse.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was seen giving two fingers to cameras as he was leaving Carrington training ground after a burst up with Jose Mourinho on Wednesday afternoon.

The 25-year-old France international and the Portuguese coach have weakened in recent days, with the one time world most expensive player being stripped of the vice-captaincy by his former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager.

Pogba was caught on camera giving a high-five to a member of the backroom staff including Micheal Carrick before Mourinho appeared to say something to him and the World Cup winner gave his boss a steely stare in response before they walked together for a moment, with more words and scowls being exchanged.

Nicki Minaj followed through on her promise to donate $25,000 to former “Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens.

According to TMZ, Nicki’s team reached out and sent a check to Owens after vowing to give him$25,000 on her Queen Radio show. The gesture was a response to someone trying to shame him by posting a photo of him bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s.“ This man is a whole fu**ing legend,” said Nicki during the broadcast earlier this month.

Now Owens is paying it forward. He decided to donate all the money to the Actor’s Fund in memory of his late “Cosby Show” co-star Earle Hyman.“I would like to give this donation of 25k to the Actor’s Fund in memory of the late, great Earle Hyman—who played Cosby’s father, Russell, on ‘The Cosby Show’—who lived his last many years and died at the Actors’ Home, (funded and run by the Actor’s Fund),” said Owens. “I am extremely grateful to Nicki Minaj for enabling struggling actors to continue pursuing their dreams.”

When I look at this picture of Geoffrey Owens, the only things that come to my mind are courage, humility and dedication. Very few artists, especially actors, can fully support themselves in their craft. Taking honest, hard work to offset those dry periods is honorable. Rabinowitz (@ABAOProductions)September 2, 2018

Nicki also saluted Owens for his donation. “I’m happy to be a part of a great cause,” said theQueenrapper. “I wish Geoffrey much success and want him to know how loved he is. Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate Senator Iyiola Omisore has joined forces with APC to fight the PDP in the upcoming rerun in Osun state.

The rerun election will determine the winner between Isiaka Oyetola of the APC and PDP candidate Ademola Adeleke. Saturday’s election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which ordered the supplementary election in seven polling units in four local governments – Osogbo, Orolu, Ife North and Ife South. There are 3, 498 registered voters in the polling units where the elections were cancelled due to various reasons, including hijacking of election materials, abscondment of presiding officer, disruption of election by hoodlums who were shooting sporadically, manual accreditation and over voting.

The supplementary election is a straight fight between Oyetola and Adeleke. Adeleke has a marginal 353 votes advantage in the election in which Omisore finished third. Omisore hosted an APC delegation of Ekiti State Governor-elect Dr Kayode Fayemi and Dr Olu Agunloye at his home in Ile-Ife. On Monday, he received Senate President Bokola Saraki, who came to lobby him to support the PDP.

Omisore, who left the PDP for the SDP because the PDP ticket was skewed in favour of Adeleke, declined to give Saraki his commitment. But after his meeting with the APC team, Omisore twitted under a photograph of himself with Fayemi and Agunloye:

OSOGBO—THE two major contenders in tomorrow’s Osun State government rerun election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, were, yesterday, locked in a verbal war over perceptions of impropriety ahead of the crucial polls in seven selected polling points.

The verbal warfare came as proxies of the two parties continued solicitations to Senator Iyiola Omisore, the Social Democratic Party, SDP, candidate who came third in the election for his support.

Atiku, Fayemi visit Omisore Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, came on behalf of the PDP, while Ekiti State governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who supposedly came on behalf of APC, however, said he came to visit Omisore who he said is his in-law.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was also being drawn into the fray yesterday as PDP gave details of how it was allegedly short-changed of 4,387 votes in two local government areas by INEC, supposedly working in cahoots with the ruling APC.

The party alleged that INEC was set to increase the number of voters due for the rerun from the 3498 earlier announced to 4,387 to allegedly widen the APC’s capacity to manouvere.

The claims were dismissed by the APC’s media campaign coordinator, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who urged voters affected to ignore the PDP which he claimed was jittery over its imminent loss.

INEC also rebuffed the claims as it gave statistics to back its claim that the number of votersin the voting area is 3,498.Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha, on his part said the outcome of the election was the reason the party must never go to sleep. The sense of despair of the PDP was also conveyed by its failure to get the exact number of the Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, collected among the 4,387 voters.INEC in a rebuff to claims to social media figures that only 423 PVCs were collected by voters in the affected area, said it would not release the figures for security reasons.

An APC chieftain dismissed the figures as false, adding that INEC had the authentic figures.“Who is in possession of better statistics? INEC is in possession of the real statistics, whatever figure people are claiming is false,” the chieftain said.Contacted on the issue, Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mr. Segun Agbaje, said the electoral umpire had the authentic figures of voters and number ofPVCs collected. He, however, said “that for security reasons, the commission will not disclose the total number of PVCs collected in the seven polling units where the re-run election will take place.”INEC boss should resign — PDPThe PDP at a press conference in Abuja, addressed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondinyan, yesterday, called for the resignation of the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and the National Commissioner in charge of operations, Mrs.

Amina Zakari, upon the claim that they collaborated to stalemate a concluded election.Ologbondiyan said: “With INEC’s fraudulent conduct in the Osun governorship election, and approval that a concluded election be declaredinconclusive, the PDP and, indeed, all well-meaning Nigerians no longer have confidence in Prof. Yakubu.“It is completely inexcusable that Prof. Yakubu presides overan atrocious and compromisedelectoral umpire that manipulates electoral processes, doctors figures, allocates fictitious votes and subverts the will of the people in an election.“

The PDP has additional documentary evidence of how this compromised INEC, through its Operations and ICT Department, doctored results from polling centers, directly short-changed the PDP with no fewer than 4,387 votes by slashing votes cast for the PDPat the polling centers while allocating fictitious figures to the APC.“From the facts available to us, INEC robbed our party of over 4,387 votes. Our actual winning margin stands at 4,740 votes against the 353 votes declared by INEC.”

Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun for taking the lead in the inconclusive Sept. 22 governorship election in the state. Samuel Ortom gave the commendation in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.

The PDP candidate Sen. Ademola Adeleke, took the lead in the election declared inconclusive by the INEC with 254,698 votes, closely followed by APC’s candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola who polled 254, 345 votes.
Ortom said that the conduct of the Osun election reflected the resolve of many Nigerians to give their mandate to the PDP in the 2019 general elections.

The governor also commended the people of Osun for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the poll. Ortom urged them to sustain their support for the PDP and complete the good work they had started on the day of the re-run.
Prof. Joseph Fuwape, the Returning Officer for the election, on Sunday in Osogbo, declared the poll inconclusive because of cases of ballot box snatching in some polling units.

Fuwape said that the incident which occurred in Ife North, Ife South, Orolu and Osogbo led to the cancellation of 3498 votes. He said that a winner could not be announced because the number of cancelled votes was more than the difference between the scores of the two leading candidates.
He announced Sept. 27 as date for the re-run in the affected polling units.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the Osun State governorship election inconclusive.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party , Ademola Adeleke , had polled 254 , 698 votes to defeat that of the All Progressives Congress , Gboyega Oyetola, who polled 254 , 345 votes.

However, due to irregularities which marred the election at some polling units in Ife North , Ife South and Orolu local government areas , including cases of card reader malfunctioning, ballot box snatching , among others, this led to the cancellation of 3 ,498 votes recorded in the affected polling units .

Quoting INEC’ s Standing Rules at the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo , the state capital, the Returning Officer and Vice -Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof Joseph Fuwape, said since the margin between the two leading candidates was lower than the registered cancelled votes, the election had to be declared inconclusive.

He stated that a rerun would take place at the affected polling units on Thursday, September 27 , 2018 .

The meeting of the Governor Advisory Committee on Saturday could not make any tangible decision due to the absence of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress , Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. GAC was supposed to decide the governorship candidate of the APC in the 2019 elections .

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had expressed his willingness to go for a second term . However two former commissioners in the state – Babajide Sanwo - Olu and Dr. Femi Hamzat - had also obtained their forms .
Tinubu, it was gathered, could not leave Osun State due to the governorship election in the state .
The meeting was fixed for Saturday with the hope that Tinubu would be there.
His absence , however , delayed the members from making key decisions.

The governorship ticket of Lagos State had generated public interest after Sanwo - Olu got the backing of the Mandate Movement in the Lagos APC.
The Mandate Movement is led by Tinubu, who was Ambode ’s political godfather.
The chairmen of the 57 councils also declared support for Sanwo - Olu. The governor and Tinubu have been in the news in the past few days because of an alleged rift over the second term bid of Ambode.
